Net worth that ignores your crypto, house, and car isn't net worth: it's a bank balance with ambitions. Stoia treats every asset class as a first-class citizen.
Your data is never the product
No ads, no selling your data, and no 'free' app that quietly monetizes you by pushing credit cards. Privacy is the default, not an afterthought.
Money is shared; software should know that
Couples, families, and roommates manage money together. Workspaces (personal, household, roommates) are the architecture, not a bolted-on invite button.
Accurate to the cent
Money in Stoia is stored as integer cents: no floating-point rounding, ever. Boring engineering decisions like this are what financial trust is made of.
Read-only by design
Stoia can see your accounts through secure, read-only connections but can never move your money. Your bank credentials are never stored by us.
Calm over clever
The name comes from the Stoa, the porch where Stoic philosophy was taught. Clarity about what you control, indifference to noise. That's the entire product philosophy.
How we write
Everything on this site (the guides, the course, the glossary, and the copy around every calculator) is written and reviewed by the Stoia team, the people building the app. We follow a few rules, and you can hold us to them:
- Education, not advice. We explain how the math and the rules work so you can decide; we never tell you what to buy, sell, or sign. Nobody pays us for placement and we do not run affiliate links.
- Sourced numbers, honest dates. Figures come from primary sources such as IRS and SSA publications and Federal Reserve data. Every article shows when it was published and when it was last updated, and tax-year figures are labeled with their year.
- Worked examples over hand-waving. Every concept gets real dollar figures, and every calculator explains its formula and runs entirely in your browser.
- Corrections welcome. Spot something wrong or stale? Email info@getstoia.com and we will fix it and stamp the update date.
